Is there an advantage to a PWS with a solar sensor?
I have two weather stations nearby - one is a commercial unit operated by the county, and is very close to my house. Another unit is slightly farther (less relevant data), however it does have a solar sensor. If I switch to this PWS, will Rainmachine correct for a day where the sun comes out all day on a day forecasted overcast?
Or, will forecast correction somehow compensate for "sunny vs. cloudy" even without a sensor? I doubt NOAA historical data is precise enough to use for that?

Hi, Eric
Thank you for your question.
The best thing to do is to use the closest station to your location and if it is one operated by the county, much better.
Anyway, it would not hurt to test them for a period of time and see the one that is most accurate for you.
Remember that the Weather Station data is not a forecast data it's just "yesterday" data fetched by RainMachine from the weather station and used in the watering algorithm to decide if there is the need to water less(not at all) or more. Forecast correction should be also enabled to ensure that there will be corrections applied to the data received from the weather station in case that there are some huge discrepancies.
Thank you, Eric
