Total Watering Time Issue
Under DevelopmentHi all,
I'm noticing a recent issue with the "Total Watering Time" increment/decrement feature.
I have various programs going and sometimes I like to adjust the "Total Watering Time" using the +/- buttons within 'Edit Program', but lately I'm noticing that it does not actually work when I got to run that program. For example, my Total Water Time may be 3 hours, and then I adjust it down to 2:15 (for example) - when I initiate the program, the timer starts at 2:15, but within a second, it switches back to 3:00. It doesn't matter what settings I have in the program (i.e. weather adaption turned on/off).
Anyone else seeing these in iOS? (version 4.4.101(24) on iPhone 7 Plus.). Seems to be just a very recent 'bug' - was working this past summer for me just fine.
Thanks,
J

I will add as a suggestion that it would be nice if the total watering times DID scale the custom setting for each zone or if maybe there was a way to enable it to do so in the settings. I like to increase or decrease watering duration at different times of the season and its convenient to be able to quickly do it all in one place. It sounds like others have been thinking the same thing as well.

I had the same problem, and recently submitted a bug report:
I found a bug regarding the Total Watering Time adjustment feature in Program settings. I had a program for all zones, set fully manually (i.e. using Custom durations). I needed to double the run times for all zones, so I duplicated the program, and adjusted the Total Watering Time upward (using the +/- buttons) until the watering times for each zone showed the desired run times. Everything appeared to be set correctly.
Now, after a week running this new program, I checked the Watering History in the app, and found that my adjustment was ignored, and the programs ran only based on the Custom run times I had originally set (i.e. not the adjusted times set, and indicated, after adjusting the Total Watering Time upwards). The values shown when viewing the Program settings still show the increased times.
I will go ahead and adjust each Custom time as needed, but it was frustrating to find that the adjustment I had specified was not applied. The first reply I received said:
The plus and minus arrows are for the suggested times not the custom times. So if the custom were still checked adjusting those would't adjust the program.
I replied that this is not at all obvious from the UI, and in fact a misleading behavior. Let's see what they say next.

Hi, all
Yes, it is a display bug in our RainMachine mobile apps UI that change the Custom zone times when Total Watering Time adjustment is accessed. Those times are fixed and should not be altered.
We will fix that in our next mobile apps updates.
Thank you for understanding,

Yes, thanks for making that point. As currently implemented, the UX problem is that the total watering time adjustment appears to change the custom times displayed (as shown in the UI), but doesn't have any actual effect on custom times when the program runs (as any reasonable user would expect it to). The promised fix (to make the adjustment buttons have no effect on the displayed custom times) will still seem broken (but in a different way).
There doesn't seem to be any reason for the adjustment buttons to not modify custom times (as they do for suggested times).
