I'm getting this error after noticing my sprinklers not working. I've power cycled the device many times, tried rebooting through the GUI, connected and disconnected WiFi, and tried a system restore. My screen seems to be stuco saying "Loading RainMachine data..." but nothing happens. I can get into the options menu. The internet seems to be working as there's a screen that's says Google ping OK along with other internet info that indicates everything is working. The only thing I've done differently in the last 6 months is to install an Orbi router. The sprinklers have been off for the winter so I haven't looked at the RainMachine in the last 6 months. The Orbi does have 2.4 Ghz enabled. Any ideas? My next step is probably a factory reset.

  Hoping you find an answer here as well, as I am in the EXACT SAME BOAT!  It's like a recent firmware update caused it.

  I ended up just buying a Rachio R3 Indoor Pro Series Smart Wi-Fi Irrigation Controller. They even paid for shipping to recycle the RainMachine controller. 

  I bought it from BackYardLandscapeSupply.com because they had the best price on the Pro series, however, I don't think they are an authorized retailer so the warranty may not be honored if something goes wrong. Also, I went with the Pro series because there's talk about the Rachio 3 being sunsetted and not supported any longer. If I were to buy the Rachio 3, Costco had the best deal on them. Who knows how long Rachio will last as a company. I think it's probably hard to make it as a hardware seller without a paid subscription model.

  The Orbit B Hyve seemed to be a good controller from a reputable brand.
