Observed Rain Amount

Using WUnderground to obtain observed rainfall amounts used to be a great option.  With WUnderground not working like it used to with the RainMachine, has anyone figured out a simple method to get observed rain amount from a local weather station?

  Last week I had two days each with 4+" of rain - that made a difference to whether my yard needed watering for the week.  Just having an entry for date and amount of rain would be helpful.
