    Hi Leonardo,

What do you mean by native SmartThings integration ? Currently there is a community made plugin for SmartThings that can work on local network: https://github.com/brbeaird/SmartThings_RainMachine

Native support means there is no need for 3rd party apps or code to bridge the gap between the two device. No "middleware". In other words, if my RainMachine natively supported SmartThings, then adding my RainMachine would be found by my SmartThings hub without the need to add code/software/3rd party solution. Please forgive me if my explanation was still not clear enough. For more info, try a search for "native support meaning" and "middleware". Also, I am grateful to all who have lent a hand in creating the middleware in the meantime. The efforts are appreciated.

Thanks for the explanation Leonardo, we have to do some research to see how can we do native integration for RainMachine. I wasn't sure if native integration would work over LAN/WIFI but looks like they have mDNS discovery but I didn't find a "sprinkler" profile for integration. We will be contacting them to check if it's possible to add our device type.

I found SmartThings has a device type of "irrigation". There are two brands listed there. Thanks for looking into this.

SmartThings now supports the new Matter protocol. Since Matter is being supported by all the popular home automation ecosystems, I bet if you added Matter support, you would hit all integrations with one stone. As long as your device can communicate over TCP/IP, I bet you can add support though a firmware update. No new hardware needed.
Please add the Matter specification to your existing product line. Thanks!!

Smartthings has discontinued the use of groovy code.  The github process no longer works.  Will there be an update for this to work with smartthings?
