WiFi Connectivity Disappeared
FixedMy HD 12;suddenly lost connectivity two days ago. It’s worked flawlessly for three years connected to the same network. Occasionally we have power outages but it has always reconnected when it reboots. Nothing changed in my system. Signal strength is excellent. I’ve rebooted the device three times. Each time it does not connect to WiFi. The WiFi screen which used to display available signals to choose from is now completely blank.the enable box is checked.
Does anyone have any ideas. I’ve consudered a “factory reset” but I’m afraid of losing three years worth if program settings and history that I’ve created. If I knew how to backup/restore from an external device I’d try that for sure.

Hi, Eduard
We're sorry to hear that.
As a quick troubleshooting step: power off the RainMachine device, unplug the USB Wi-Fi thumb from the USB slot, clean it up, plug it back on the same USB slot or the other empty one and then power up the RainMachine again and see if that's working. Is your Touch HD-12 1st gen (last fw version is 3.74) or the 2nd gen (last fw version is 4.0.926)?
If it is the 2nd gen than, a backup is already on the RainMachine device and it has all your Zones, Programs and Restrictions settings saved. Once you reset to factory default (hope you won't need it) you'll be asked if you want to delete the backup too, choose NO. After the reset is done, once you start to set the RainMachine Touch HD-12 again, you'll be asked if you want to restore from the backup. Choose YES!
Also, the version of this backup is saved on your mobile phone if you ever used the RainMachine iOS or Android applications to control the RainMachine Touch HD-12.
If for some reasons you cannot restore it from the device itself, then connect with the RainMachine mobile app, go to Settings - System Settings - Restore from Backup and choose the latest version of the backup from the list.
Again - this will be necessary if the Wi-Fi thumb-stick troubleshooting doesn't work. We believe that could be the issue. A fail USB WI-Fi adaptor...
Thank you, Edward

Thanks for your quick reply. It’s 2nd gen. I admit that I didn’t realize that the WiFi adapter is a usb plugin that can be unplugged. I’ll try that as you suggest. If that doesn’t work, and a factory reset doesn’t work do I assume that the adapter has simply died? Can I purchase a replacement?
i also assume that the device keeps its own internal log and diagnostics but without connectivity how do I access it? Is there a port that I’m not seeing ?
thanks

Hi, Edward
The backup saved on the device with your Zones, Programs and Restrictions cannot be accessed.
We will have to consider your scenario, but this will require some serial interface knowledge/wiring.
Right now, without a stable Wi-Fi connectivity you cannot access the RainMachine Touch HD-12 watering history.
Sorry about that. Our colleagues will help you with a replacement for the Wi-Fi thumb-stick if it failed.
All you have to do is to write an email to help@rainmachine.com and give them the link to this community post and they will guide you further.
Thank you, Eduard
