Defintive output voltage spec
It seems from other posts the output voltage is 24vdc. thought I cant seem to find this written as a spec.
Im asking because I just had a circuit fail and new solenoid fixed it. I am in a new to me house and installed Rainmachine as I had it in previous residence. Its great. But in looking at the failed solenoid, it appears to have the marking 24v and 60Hz which would imply to me 24vac. google search (https://tameson.com/choosing-an-ac-or-dc-coil-for-a-solenoid-valve.html) tells me this can work, but can lead to solenoid fail.
I have the 16 channel unit. Does it have any protections built in to avoid solenoid failure, or should I start stocking up on solenoids?

No clue where you've seen 24VDC listed. Think about it, why would there be a wall wart to go from 120 or 230 VAC down to 24VAC to plug into the RainMachine if the RainMachine was then going to convert that DC?
You can also check the manual.
