Purpose of the rain sensor cable adapter?
Currently I have a Rain Bird RSDBEX normally closed, wired rain sensor connected in series to the common connectors of my RainMachine HD-12. I see the rain sensor can also be connected to pins 1 & 2 of the "hidden connector". I have several questions about this:
1. Is one method of connecting the rain sensor better than the other?
2. Is the optional rain sensor cable adapter ($3.99 + shipping) simply intended to make it easier to attach the rain sensor wires to the "hidden connector"?
Thanks for your help,
Dave

I'm not familiar with your particular sensor but, general answers:
1 - Using the hidden connector allows software control over the rain sensor, so the RM is aware of and can display the status of the sensor and the information concerning the watering events related to that status. It certainly would be my preferred way to go, but the end result of not watering when the sensor says it is wet is the same.
2 - Yes the cable is so that you can attach to the pin type connector....there are some alternate solutions I saw here as well, but I just went the cable as it was relatively cheap and easy.
