Currently the big sprinkler controllers (Hydrawise, Rachio, Rainbird, and even Skydrop) all have Control4 Integration.   Unfortunately all 4 of those are cloud based.

I would hope that if RainMachine comes out with a Control4 Driver (or works with drivercentral.io to develop one), then you could displace a lot of the other sprinkler controllers out there.

Currently home automation installers can't recommend Rain Machine because it doesn't connect with professional systems.
