RainMachine Won't Connect/Load
I have had my RainMachine for a few years and there have been inconsistencies when connecting from the web portal or via the app. At times, I could not connect via either technique but restarting the device typically solved the issue. Nevertheless, even when I was able to connect, loading would take approximately 1-2 minutes.
Recently, I have been unable to connect to the device via the app or the web portal. In particular, there is an attempt to load for 1-2 minutes and eventually, the web portal or app states that there are no devices connected. When checking the interface of the device, it shows it is connected to WiFi.
Please help in solving this issue.

If you are connecting through the RainMachine servers (my.rainmachine.com), you may want to double check their status while you are having connection issues:

Hi, Dimitri
We're sorry to hear about that.
Do you get the same lag on RainMachine mobile and web app when you connect to it in the same local WiFi network?
So, when you are on the same RainMachine location and you connect with your desktop/mobile phone to the same WiFi local network do you get the same result?
The RainMachine mobile app should automatically discover your RainMachine Touch HD device and access it through the RainMachine web app just type the device local IP address into the internet browser address bar.If you can connect and everything it's working when you're the same local WiFi network, then you may have firewall settings that block RainMachine connection with the remote access servers.
Please go to the RainMachine Touch HD device and tap on the Settings wrench button and choose System and then choose Network Tools
Automatically a test will be made for the connection. Please tell us if you see errors there and what they are.Waiting for your reply, Dimiri
Thank you for your patience and understanding.Julian
RainMachine Support -
I've also been struggling with highly volatile remote access (iOS app or web gui) since acquiring my Pro-16 in October 2018.
Right now it can take 15 seconds or 60 seconds (or more) for the RainMachine app to load on my iPhone XS. This is the case even if I just turned on a zone and go to stop it a few minutes later, never having left the app in the meantime.
FYI my Pro-16 connects to the internet only through its Ethernet jack, never wireless. I know this because I've also never been able to get the Pro-16 to connect my home wifi network (corporate-level Ruckus access points and ZoneDirector WLAN controller).
All variations of local discovery or direct access have had worse connection quality than straight-up remote access.
The only reliable access is using the web gui using the Pro-16's (static) IP address, but that requires a VPN when outside my home network and is not a very easy interface to use on a phone, besides.
Connecting the Pro-16 to HomeKit and using Apple's own Home app is also reliable, though obviously it only has limited use for manually toggling zones.
I've got an RMA going and will be sending in my Pro-16 for evaluation, but given the various threads on remote access issues I'm not optimistic.
I love RainMachine for its openness and flexibility, but the interface and especially remote access needs to transform or even this rabid supporter will have to look for alternatives. Struggling with the app every time I want to start or stop a zone is irritating to say the least.
