Difference & Firmware Update Of 1st & 2nd Gen Rainmachines

Hello RainMachine Support.

What are the differences between 1st and 2nd generation Rainmachines , eg. HD12 Touch ?

Can the 1st-Gen Rainmachines be updated to the latest firmware (meant for 2nd-Gen devices) ?

  The 1st gen device only updates to 3.74, where as the 2nd gen device's still receive updates.

  Maybe that's "official" on the firmware update page, 

  but I heard from someone, a couple of months back,

  that the 1st Gen hardware apparently can run 2nd Gen firmware but "without some features".

  I just did not hear the rest of that sentence, so I got curious.

   

  ( I have a 2nd Gen Touch HD-12 , but just wanted to find out _for myself_ about 1st Gen hardware too and not "asking for a friend" )

  Running 2nd gen firmware is not possible on 1st gen. If it would have been possible we have ported it already.

  Are there release notes available, specifically for updates after 3.74?

  The 3.74 was the final release of the first gen.

  Will the Gen2 still get firmware updates if I don't subscribe to the Premium service?
