HomeKit zone names

I just found out my RainMachine Touch HD-12 could be upgraded to have HomeKit. But the zone names don't come through to the Home app. Do I have to name them in Home? Why doesn't RainMachine sync these names?

  Unfortunately, yes.
  Apple HomeKit irrigation profile does not support this feature just yet.
  We are monitoring this and when it will be available we will make the necessary changes.
  
  For now, you have to rename the zones by hand into the Apple Home app to match your zone names.
  Please use short human-readable names, like Flowers, Lawn, and so on so Apple Siri will understand the voice commands easily.
  Don't use long names if possible.
