Zone starts then stops immediately
My system includes a Touch HD with 8 zones plus a master valve (Zone 1). I have a zone that immediately stops after starting - the pump kicks on but immediately stops. The automatic sequencing stops as well so no zones following the faulty zone gets watered.
The zone fails when run manually too. Same symptoms. I switched the wire to another zone and tried running the 'new' zone and it fails there too. I'm suspecting faulty wiring to the underground valve for that circuit.
Question: Would a faulty zone wiring trigger the pump to immediately shut down (and program aborted) by recognizing some kind of short? I tested the system on one of the zone without any wiring and the pump comes on and stays on so it looks like an "open" wiring fault is not the cause.

I found the culprit - a faulty in-ground valve. I have two valves close together so I was able to switch wires and zones to find root cause. The resistance value on the faulty valve solenoid was 5 ohms and the good valve had 25 ohms. I'm assuming the low resistance caused the 24v system to fail which in turn shut down the master valve (Zone 1). Now onto replacing the valve!
