    Yes, this is a poor value. First the suggestion that home use was "always" free but remote was not and is now being monitized. Second, living in northern usa, this is a product that i only use 4 months a year but I would be forced to pay for the product year round.

    This was an advertised feature when we bought the divice years ago. Now they want us to pay for it yearly or they will that it away. I would say that is unethical.

    Trying to figure out why remote access is now a paid premium service.  When I bought this, remote access was included.  Bad business decision to make this a paid service now.  Makes it impossible to recommend especially without any mention of what "new feature updates" might be.  Seems very "vaporware" to me.

    The biggest issue is lack of improvements. This janky old version of Android is so vulnerable to attacks. Remote access is one thing. Just like Wink, another company based on IFTTT integrations and a bad business model, Rain Machine will cease to exist as backlash from users causes them to leave the product. Another thing. Within three hours of implementing their "Workaround" for remote access, my system was get about six DOS attacks and hour due to the "Goahead.Webserver.HTTP.Request.DOS" vulnerability. This has been unpatched for years. So beware! If you don't have an IPS to trap this, your wifi is going to get hacked!

    @Rainmachine support - can there be monthly or discount for 6 month users? I also live in the NE and the system is off generally between Oct and April and so paying double for the service (same as everyone else with 12 month use for same price) is unacceptable. I am reluctantly looking to go monthly because I need to monitor remotely due to the issue it has in watering properly based on weather and to see if the issues are actually addressed I have reported.
