What a SCAM!
I have had my Rain Machine for several years. I regularly use the app and remote access...until now! Thier new update has disabled my ability for remote access - the very reason I purchased this thing.
I have added a static IP address, setup port forwarding as instructed for direct access and still no contact with the device. I really shouldn't have had to do this, but I did...and it STILL DOESN'T work!
Everyone who is having issues - which is probably all of us here, needs to go to Amazon, Google, and everywhere else you can think of to leave a review to warn others to stay away from Rain Machine! I am sure my post will be deleted by the admins, so be sure to add your own post to encourage others to get the word out!
UPDATE: After spending a lot of time going over the configuration, I deleted and reinstalled the app. It has now come back to life on my local network. Still unable to reach remotely without paying for the subscription.

I tried to review—most places no longer sell this bug-filled product with terrible support. This is going the way of skydrop exactly: terrible support that promised NEXT update would fix the myriad of things wrong, refused to honor warranty, customer service/support becomes nonexistent, then subscription to premium services needed to use it. In 6-12 months this will be a brick. The only satisfaction is these people will be out of business as we enter a recession—then they may regret the terrible service they provided.

Total scam of a company. I customers place class action or selling a product with remote access and then all of a sudden force charging customers to pay to use it. I am sending this scam to my state attorney's office,. Ultimately they will be out of business and us customers who paid hundreds of dollars for these controllers will be out of money.
