Not getting expected behavior from the rainmachine

I recently added a local personal weather station (registered with WU and AWN) to improve the observed weather data. Prior to this, I had been using NOAA and the closest WU PWS to inform the rainmachine. 

I didn't expect any issues to occur by replacing the WU station with my own, but the calculated watering schedules are all over the place now. 

I'm looking for advice to get this device in a useful state again.

First off, what is the best way to set up the weather services? Should I:

  1. Just use my PWS data retrieved from AWN or WU with no forecasting services? I assume the rainmachine will use the built in ET for forecasting and correct with observed data. Or,
  2. Use a forecasting service, such as NOAA, in conjunction with my PWS?

By the way, I cannot use the local web interface to enable/disable the NOAA weather service. When I select 'SAVE', I just get a spinning icon over the 'SAVE' bar. In order to make the change, I have to use the ios app. This is really frustrating. 

Currently, the rainmachine has calculated a very high ET for today. I could use help understanding why this is, and how to fix it. As a consequence, it's driving a 200% water tomorrow.

Finally, any help understanding why the mixer isn't just providing an average for data such as temperature would be helpful.
