Use short zone names in Alexa integration

I'd like to use Alexa integration to manually run zones (without IFTTT).  My zones have long descriptive names which are useful in the mobile app and on the web, e.g. "S of Pool NW Deep End Triangle". 

That zone appears in Alexa as Smart Home device "Zone S of Pool NW Deep End Triangle".  But Alexa doesn't recognize it when I tell it to turn on that name, probably since it's so complex.  I also can't remember the exact name to speak.

I'd like the option for the Alex integration to call the device "Zone 8" instead of using the long name -- or alternatively, give me the option to override the Alex name to something simple, e.g. "Zone Deep End".

I realize that I can probably work around the problem using Alexa's and Rain Machine's IFTTT integration to make a custom "trigger" for each zone.

  I was going to recommend the IFTTT work around as well, to make a simple trigger, this is something we will want to look at more.

  I just noticed this question from last December.  I was wondering the same thing as well.  Has any consideration been given to this topic?  I also use complex zone names that are helpful for my phone app, but not so much with Alexa.

  Could you not create a group in the alexa app and give it the name you want and add the sprinkler zone to the group.

  Good thought, Hum099.  It'd still be a bit of a chore to create a group for each zone but it seems like it should work.
