Add Amazon Alexa direct connection capability to the 1st Generation Touch (not just IFTTT).
As a 1st generation RainMachine owner I would greatly appreciate a firmware upgrade allowing direct connectivity to Alexa. I purchased my RainMachine in May, 2014 but I have other 1st generation products such as my Nest thermostats purchased the previous year, August 2013 and they connect directly with Alexa without using IFTTT.
Please consider upgrading the 1st generation systems for your customers.
Thank you

Hi
I do have a RainMachine Touch bought on the same time as you and I have Alexa working through ifttt just right.
All you have to do is to link the RainMachine channel with your remote access account on ifttt.com and then create if this then that applets.See my screenshots here:

And how the ifttt recognized my RainMachine and listed all my zones so I choose the Zone 2 to start for 5 minutes

Hope this helps.

Hi Josh,
I appreciate your reply but setting up IFTTT triggers was not an issue. As I stated, I have other Wi-Fi devices that previously required IFTTT triggers to connect to Alexa. For those devices I configured the IFTTT triggers. However, once they received firmware upgrades for direct connectivity to Alexa I stopped using the triggers.
If possible I prefer to have all my devices connect directly to Alexa and the RainMachine Touch is the last one requiring IFTTT to connect.
Thanks again Josh,
Reggie

Hi, Reginald, all
We brought back our IFTTT support for the 1st generation of RainMachine Touch.
Keep in mind that the new actions added to our RainMachine IFTTT channel, like Pause and Resume watering are not available for the 1st gen devices. the other ones should work just fine.
Thank you for your patience.
