Rain Gauge
Need a wireless rain gauge that ties directly to the Rainmachine controller.
Rainmachine brand would be great.

I second this. Just the other day our NOAA forecast told Rainmachine we had close to 3 inches of rain. My house received half that. NOAA's very good, but nothing will be more accurate than a measurement at the home site. A rain gauge accessory would be an excellent addition and I would definitely buy one.

I third that. Though I use a Wunderground station from my neighborhood they are not reliable because they go down frequently. And as mentions NOAA is not reliable for past rain amount.
In a mean while allow to enter rain amount manually. I can get dumm rain gauge and enter the reading myself.
Writing a Python script to enter manual entries is too much for an average user.

If you go to this thread they are working on implementing rain sensors.

Acurite makes a wireless rain gauge that sells for around $25. Problem is interfacing it from the receiver to the Rain Machine. However, the rain detector is a tipping bucket with a magnetic reed switch. If I recall correctly each tip of the bucket equals .01 inch of rain. Wouldn't take much to scrap the wireless portion and run a pair of wires from the reed switch to the Rain Machine. Would the new interface on the RM be able to interpret that?
