    As mentioned above https://support.rainmachine.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115007944008/comments/115004106348

    I don't think it needs to be this complicated. Pause = Turn Valve Off

    From there, whomever makes the decisions can decide how to deal with that, but something simple would be:

    While (current zone watering) {

    Open Valve = True

      Pause {

      Open Valve = False

      }

      Resume {

      Open Valve = True

      }

    }

    This way no other watering schedule is affected. If we've moved outside the current zone or schedule, the new schedule/zone settings apply.

    Tonight I changed a lot of sprinkler heads in front lawn.  A "Pause" function would be great in between flushing out dirt in lines and changing heads.  Current set up works but is more clumsy requiring more phone input.

    So I just tried out the new beta "pause" action in IFTTT - it works brilliantly for me! Now I can have SmartThings motion or other sensors trigger a pause - super cool.

    Michael,

    You can try the current beta update which has the pause functionality on the web interface (mobile apps not yet released)

    I tried the pause feature in the latest beta.  It has a strange quirk where if you pause a scheduled program and then resume it a few minutes later, the point of resume shows up as "manual" watering in the watering history.

    Yes, this is how it was implemented. When you pause, we stop the watering and we add the remaining zones duration as manual. This is mostly a current limitation of our queue functions.

    Is it true that manual watering does not factor into RM's watering need calculations?  If so, wouldn't the pausing of a scheduled watering then cause the remaining time on that paused zone to be lost as far as watering need is concerned since it becomes "manual" on resume?

    No, all the calculations have been saved prior to the pause execution.

    Individual Zone snooze function exemption

    Note from RainMachine support, “We feel rain sensors are obsolete and override the default functionality.”

    Requesting on/off (enable/disable) rain detector setting for each zone.

    RainMachine already supports a rain detector but options are limited.  Currently rain detection causes all zones to follow a universal setting;

    SNOOZE all zones for user defined period of time.

    Reason:  I use a dedicated zone for water feature refilling, why not embrace it and enhance the functionality and allow individual zones to either accept or ignore SNOOZE.

    Notes:

    Yes, the system can utilize a private weather station for rain sensing, but it requires a subscription to WU or other compatible service for local data.  There have been times when the rain was not reported accurately and the sprinklers would still run during or after a rain.

    Why rely on historical data or the internet and not support a local rain sensor? There are errors on internet weather reporting. Historical data is a last resort for proper watering programs.

    Summary,

    1. Rain detector option adds additional zone control feature
    2. Rain detector adds additional redundancy for current weather conditions
