Widening RainMachine Capabilties

like others, my RainMachine has unused pins.  I wonder if it's possible to use them to control lights or garage doors with them instead of leaving them useless.  For that to happen, we need to be able to assign them into a momentary switch and know the voltage output of these pins.  Can we take a poll of other users to see if this is a worthwhile mod?
