With IFTTT notification when the unit goes down the IFTTT servers will send the email, so this feature is working properly, and I use it myself.

You may receive a false alarm if the unit is not connected to WiFi, but still powered on and watering.

This is possible with IFTTT currently and we will also have our own solution soon (currently being tested). This require remote access to be enabled on device. An example recipe: https://ifttt.com/recipes/440217-if-device-is-offline-send-a-notification

    1. A device without power power cannot send notifications.

    2. Fix your GFCI.

    3. Notifications could still be activated in phone app based on a periodic communication with the rainmachine and no external servers.

My Rainmachine has lost power twice in the past month. The GFCI outlet in the Orbit enclosure tripped twice. Living in AZ, plants do not do well in the summer without water. Being notified when the system goes offline would be a huge positive.

Rainmachine would have to set up a 24/7 server that our controllers can ping with it's health status to determine when one has not reported in. If you have a PC/Linux box running 24/7 on your home network you can use FingBox to monitor your network. https://www.fingbox.com/. It won't catch all problems but if the controller loses power or WiFi connection it works well.

Glad to hear this is in the Rain Machine idea circle! My thermostat notification allows me to choose how often to be notified, hourly, 4 hours, daily, etc. After the web interface was activated I purchased another unit for our second home.

The beauty of the RainMachine is that it does not need external servers to operate so we are not dependent on any other device. In order to inform you when the RainMachine is no longer active it would require an outside source to initiate that message. Asking the current architecture to perform this is not possible.

My thermostat does this and I can tell it when to inform me ... nice feature.

Sure, but notifications can become annoying? Maybe just a short email? I do not want my phone to beep in the middle of the night.

Yes, up-voted. That feature would be nice to have, since all my program have Weather Data option checked, I rely a lot on those data for my lawn

that would be a worry-free device... Set it and forget it. If machine stops working, your garden will not die.
