Rain Sensor Adapter - Suggestions
HI,
I was installing HD-16 for a client and didn't realize that it didn't have the rain sensor port like my mini-8. So i had to order the part and go back to client. The instructions for the adapter need to be a little more clear. I figured it out and tested it and eventually spoke with Brandon (who by the way is amazing), and i did connect it properly. However the instructions are not very clear. The picture and instructions just say connect the rain sensor cable wire ends to your rain sensor cable ends. The picture is not clear. Then on the website it is a little better but shows a 'green cable' and a light grey cable. they both say 'sensor cable'. There is no distinction between the 'C' common and the 'Brown' Sensor. I chose right, and the Common is the '1st' and the brown sensor is the 'right', but it isn't very clear anywhere. I think the card insert and the website should clearly indicate the 'Common' and the 'Sensor Wire'.
Also, i think you should include 2 of the smaller wire nut caps with the cable. I had some but since that is how you are supposed to connect them together, it would be nice to include what you actually need when purchasing the adapter. For the extra few cents it would be nice.
Also, when testing the sensor, it appears that there is a little bit of a lag on the refresh. on the mobile app you have to go out of the controller and back in to see if it tripped the sensor. Even though swiping up on the home page looks like it 'refreshes' i don't think it does. At least that was my experience when testing for 100% confidence i went out and back in.
Also the 'last detected rain' didn't update at all even though i tested it like 20 times. Again that made me a little unsure if i set it up correctly. brandon said that sometimes takes a while to update. again a note or something under it may be nice (doesn't refresh as frequently or something, or updates daily).
Just some of my thoughts.. Thanks. :)
now that i know next time it will go a little smoother.
