How can we help?

Agreed.  This seems like an easy fix.  Please fix!

RainMachine can get weather data from NetAtmo and use this data to calculate and correct future irrigation. Using NetAtmo as a rain sensor is possible using IFTTT (see this link: https://ifttt.com/connect/netatmo/rain_machine).

I personally don't use rain sensor to stop irrigation, even on the low probability event that irrigation would start when raining, I choose to let RainMachine correct this on the next scheduled irrigation which in the long run you get similar water savings.

Of course some locations have micro-climates that never really hit the spot with weather forecast for which this rain sensor rule might make sense, but even with these locations in the long run the savings are similar.

Being able to use a weather station rain gauge locally rather than via IFTTT would be better, after all local LAN access (without the cloud) is selling point for rainmachine.

RainMachine should implement these features within it's firmware rather than relying on an outside service (IFTTT) that may not be around in the future. This use of IFTTT just adds more work and another layer of complexity to setting up an irrigation system controller. In addition, IFTTT appears to be gradually moving to a paid service model. Most of us are not going to be happy if that happens.
