Rainmachine HD12 -- app sporadically connecting
I had my original Rainmachine replaced by Support a few months ago after having issues with the rain sensor. More recently, the replacement unit began having issues connecting via the iPhone app and/or the website via computer. On the iPhone, the unit will often show "offline" for about 10 seconds then show the IP address and try to connect, but won't connect. Using the website, my Rainmachine shows up on the sign-on screen and when I select it, it will connect enough to show my address info but then ends up "Downloading data from device" endlessly without connecting. Yet if I reboot the Rainmachine, it usually works fine/connects for a period of time, but then the connection troubles eventually reoccur. My wifi signal strength shows “good” to "excellent" on the unit itself. This issue has made my Rainmachine basically only usable when I am standing directly in front of it. Connecting remotely is either sporadic or else not at all. My original unit worked flawlessly via wifi for over a year before the rain sensor issue caused us to replace it. And while the new unit works perfectly with the rain sensor now, not being able to reliably connect remotely makes the unit no better than a manual sprinkler controller. I do have the latest firmware update (downloaded the latest beta) and the wifi signal is good---and I have no wifi problems with other devices in my home. I would appreciate any help/suggestions/advice on this. (I really just want it to reliably connect to my iPhone again without having to reboot the Rainmachine!) Thanks!!

J.R. What is the decibel level on your connection? Its the negative number next to your Wifi, in the list of connections available.
You want to make sure this is in the -30 to -60 range, once we see -65 to -90 you will see disconnects and trouble connecting.
This is the noise ratio, different from signal strength. Thanks in advance.

Try unplugging the antenna, and making sure the slot is free of any debris, and then put it back in. Then power the unit down and power it back up.
If you still have trouble after these steps then we will try a full factory reset, and then restore your programs and zone info from backup.
Wrench > Settings > Updates & Restore > Reset to Defaults
Don't delete the backup, and during initial setup, it will ask if you want to restore it.
You also have backups stored on phones that connected to it previously.
I hope this helps, let me know if you still have issues.

Brandon, FYI....I updated my Rainmachine to the latest "beta" firmware on Tuesday, the day I first posted. Ever since then---so far---both the iPhone app and the website access have worked perfectly. I haven't tried any of the other suggestions (unplugging antenna, etc) yet since all seems okay now. I am crossing my fingers that this will continue. Thank you, as always, for your assistance. Will let you know if anything changes. JR
