Touch HD Availability
I just bought a new house a couple months ago and have been hoping to find the Touch HD controller become available to purchase literally anywhere ever since. I've looked around the site for any estimate of when it would become available with no luck. Can anyone from Rainmachine provide an estimate on when the controller will be available to buy?

Hello Dave,
Due to one of our manufacturers discontinuing our touch screen LCDs, we're currently looking for new alternatives. This process will take some time so we don't have a date when the new generation of HD-12s and HD-16s will be released, but it's not discontinued. For now, we will be moving forward with the Pro series. The RainMachine Pro devices have an Ethernet controller, dedicated terminals for flow and rain sensor, as well as a separate master valve terminal and a 1.77inch touch screen for easier programming. They also have an updated and better wiring scheme to help with a cleaner install. The RainMachine Pros have the same software as the HD devices so you can expect to continue saving on water and enjoy all same features.
If you have further questions about this issue or anything please lets us know, we'll be happy to help.

Rolando,
Thanks for the reply. I wasn't totally sure about the differences between the Pro's and HDs other than the HD supporting 5GHz wifi. I don't know that I would necessarily want to run a network cable out to where the controller would be located though, which is why definitely wanted to take advantage of 5GHz because of the saturated 2.4GHz spectrum in my corner of the neighborhood.
So the Pro's and HD's run the same exact firmware stack, but with the differences for the screen size and the other features you mentioned? From what I've gathered it's all based on a customized Android stack? Have you guys implemented something like Project Treble so that it should be pretty easy for you guys to maintain a model for a lot longer than the average Android phone?
I've read in the forums that the included Wifi interface is USB based and that it's replaceable. Which Wifi adapter is in the HD? If I get the Pro, I think I'd probably want to swap the included Wifi interface for the same one that's in the HD.

Hello Dave,
Both devices support only 2.4ghz by default. The RainMachine HD uses a USB WiFi antenna that can be swapped for a compatible dual-band 2.4/5GHz WIFI adapter. While being much faster, keep in mind that a 5GHz signal has much shorter range. I will attach a link below to an adapter we recommend for longer range and a more stable connection.
The RainMachine Pro has an internal WiFi antenna that cannot be swapped like the HD's. For your Android related questions i could open a support ticket and ask someone from our development team answer those questions more accurately for you. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Thank you.

The Pro series is not Android based, it is OpenWrt/LEDE based. RainMachine 5 is the Pro series.
