    Hi, Remco
I asked my colleagues to see why is taking so long with the SDCARD. Sorry about that.
When you will get it, follow this article steps in order to replace it: https://support.rainmachine.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003009127-Replacing-the-SD-card-on-the-RainMachine-Touch-1st-Generation-

Related to the other issues, please make sure that the changes made using the RainMachine iOS app are visible on the device itself once they are saved. I just tested with a 1st gen device locally and local direct access and both worked with the RainMachine iOS Beta app.
Indeed we may have updated firmware on this particular device we have for testings.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Hi, all
    UPDATE (July 20, 2022)
The RainMachine iOS app has been updated to version 4.6.125 that includes the fixes for RainMachine Touch 1st gen local network access and other fixes.
Please allow few hours for the 4.6.125 release to propagate on AppStore and please update to the latest 4.6.125 Stable version from the Apple AppStore when it become available.

If you are on BETA channel, you already have this release installed. If you choose to install the Stable release (no need to delete the BETA version) you will be automatically removed from the BETA channel app updates, until you choose to reinstall the TestFlight RainMachine iOS app version.

    Thank you
    Julian

This stream of "support" suggestions on how to fix is an example of a not so well thought out change to force people to pay for a service that was promoted as being FREE when product was purchased.  I'm in the same state of hell with this, mesh network, so phone will connected to 5ghz while RM is limited to 2.4ghz band.  Never the train shall meet. It should not be this complicated for people who have been using the device to suddenly find that they can't use it locally without jumping through a set of hoops.

    Hi, Bob
We understand that, but that's the way should work locally: both phone and RainMachine device should be on the same 2.5Ghz (or 5Ghz if you are using RainMachine Touch HD-12/16 2nd gen with a 5Ghz wi-fi adapter) in order for UDP Discovery service to work. That's the way all devices work when on the same local Wi-Fi network.
As an example - Apple HomeKit doesn't find your HomeKit accessory if it is not connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple device.
The Wi-Fi mesh setup networks have their issues with the phone changing networks as it moves to the mesh points areas and the RainMachine device stays on its own point and that's why they loose connection to each other.

You can try to add your RainMachine local IP address using the Direct Access feature and see if it stays connected.
Tap on the upper left menu button - choose Network Settings - Direct Access - Add Device - give it a name and enter the RainMachine local IP as URL like https://192.168.100.100:8080 (note the https:// and :8080 port) and save it.

    Hope that helps
    Thank you

    Julian

@RainMachine Support, what you’re telling Bob is wrong. For UDP to work the two devices need to be on the same network (layer 2), just like any other multicast. It’s very common to have multiple radios (layer 1) connect devices to the same network. It’s also well known consumer gear doesn’t always do a good job of handling multicast. While it’s technically the networking gear (or setup) that’s the issue at the end of the day folks like Bob get stuck with the only option being to either replace their network or their rainmachine.

A month after my post for support to post a reply....

My solution was to use a cheap 2.4ghz only extender to plug into and connect to my RainMachine. Got everything working for the short term and will be replacing with a new smart controller for the long term. This crap of charging to access a device remotely is just too silly and tells me how desperate RM is to generate revenue.
