Can't connect to first gen controller with app
Within the past 2 days I stopped being able to connect to my RainMachine through the Android app. It shows up in the devices list but tapping it just endlessly loads. I've factory reset my RainMachine, the app, and restarted my network but nothing works.

Hi, Corey
Please make sure that your Android phone does not fall-back to mobile data when the Wi-Fi signal is low.
You can switch off this option from the Android system settings and try again.
Also, the troubleshooting steps that we provide through the support ticket reply should be made and see if you can access your RainMachine Touch 1st gen controller.Thank you
Julian

I'm encountering the same issue with my 1st gen rainmachine. One thing I've noticed is that I can access the web UI on port 80 on mine with http but I can't access the UI on ports 443 or 18443 even though those ports are open. The android app also fails to connect via https on those ports. The Android app is forcing me to use https instead of http which is likely part of the reason why it's not able to connect. If I could tell it to use http and have it actually do it it would be able to connect to port 80 and manage the device. Another problem I'm having with my 1st gen rainmachine is that I reset it to default settings recently so that I could set it back up a certain way but after doing so I'm no longer able to set the location on the device. I was going to try to set the location via the Android app but ran in to this issue where I just can't connect to it anymore from that app. The only thing that's working for me is accessing the web UI directly via HTTP but for whatever reason there's no option in there to set the location.

Great thanks. I discovered that the older gen1 devices use a version of SSL on the webserver on port 443 which is no longer officially supported so any modern code (including the Android app) won't be able to connect over SSL to them anymore. Having the ability to connect via HTTP from the Android app is currently essential to still being able to use the Android app with gen1 rainmachine devices at this point. The auto-discovery of local devices should also take http via port 80 in to account if it can't connect via 443, which it's not currently doing.
You guys also might consider taking some time to make a firmware update for gen1 devices which allows them to be connected to the cloud for use with your premium service, since that's going to be your main source of recurring revenue anyways. It doesn't seem like that's currently possible at all with gen1 devices and there are a heck of a lot of them still in use out there. Fixing the SSL version issue would be a good idea as part of that. Just a thought.
