Apple HomeKit integration
ImplementedWould love to see support for Apple's HomeKit

Good, I realize that the integration is more complex than other vendors as even after foregoing the Hardware encryption requirements, Apple is stricter about software encryption to tie into HomeKit, but given the recent issue with privacy and knowing several other companies view user data as a a large portion of their profit, I appreciate the stricter firewall from Apple and that RainMachine is working from an android base to make this work.

Harold,
It is an important feature we are working to bring to you. Like Nicholas said we are only waiting on the protocols. With them out in a few days we should be able to. We are just waiting for a solution to be ready before we give a definitive yes. That being said I would be surprised if we were unable to. We have talented coders working here and given enough time if it is possible they will solve it.

Thanks, Jarrod. Today one of your competitors just made it possible to integrate HomeKit with their smart Sprinkler. Hopefully, Rainmachine is close to doing the same.
Smart sprinkler system adds HomeKit and Siri integration with free software update

As a developer on the Apple platform, I can tell you that it's no different than any other platform. They have a SDK and APIs just like everyone else. They can be a little prickly when it comes to their approval guidelines, but it's not difficult developing for Apple. In fact, in a lot of ways it's easier.
The big R did not get access to it early either. The difference is that they've clearly been working on this to have it ready for when Apple officially released it. Something that RainMachine obviously did not do. The big R is not the only company that is already using the new feature either.
What is the update on this? You can't blame it on Apple not releasing anymore, so what are your plans to add this through an update?

@Jestered
"The big R did not get access to it early either" - yeah I said that tongue in cheek.. obviously I thought that was an excuse."Something that RainMachine obviously did not do" - I don't think so.. Support has many posts on the forum about testing Homekit integration starting last year.
If the Homekit integration costs money.. then that might be what the delay is all about.. just my 2 cents.
Hopefully they will give us an update

Hi all
I'm a proud owner of the new Rainmachine Pro16 and browsing through its local interface I found the Apple HomeKit option under Settings - System Settings - IoT (I will attach images at the end of this post).
I have an iPhone X with the latest iOS 12 installed. When I open the Apple HomeKit on Pro it says to Pair it with my Apple device.
I opened the Home app on iPhone X, choose to Add Accessory as I did with my smart lights, then on the Pro screen appeared a QR code that I used to scan it with the Home app, the only downside is that it prompts me that the accessory is untrusted, I think they did not finish the validation process with Apple just yet. I choose to go on with it and as you can see, I can control it just fine, from the same Wi-Fi network, through Apple Home app sprinkler integration <- that sucks by the way, but hey... you can do switches :)
Images I made for you to describe the entire process:

So, I don't know about the RainMachine Touch HDs, but the Pro devices have the Apple HomeKit down the pipe.
Thanks.

Can RainMachine provide an update on general HomeKit integration status? I've been waiting for this for a LONG time and took the chance to buy and install my Touch HD based on the posts here from RM indicating 'this was in the works'. Clearly we are well beyond the software authentication delivery obstacle. I'm a little concerned that it took 'Mark' above to post that he found HomeKit available in this RM Pro. Where is RM official comment on this? Please update us on specifics. Thank you.

Hello? Does this thread get looked at? Can we get a status update on Homekit integration? Is this being worked on? Is it going to happen? I need to buy a new device for my new rental home but need it integrated w homekit.......if we can't get an update, I am going to buy a competitor product that does and also replace my existing RM HD-16 that works as well because again I need homekit integration. This thread has been going on for a long time with spotty responses. It really makes us question why we should invest in your company's products. Time to come clean and tell us what's up.

Hi, Brett, all
We are working for HomeKit certification for our RainMachine Pro devices. RainMachine Touch HD-12 and Touch HD-16 will follow. There is no estimation time for now. Unfortunately, this process takes time.Thank you for your patience and understanding, Brett

"It is apparent (to me at least) they either have no clue when Homekit is coming or it really isn't in their plans. Kind of like Ring promising and not delivering. Time to buy the competitor's product which has been fully integrated for a long time now. SMH"
Yep. I agree with you 100%. We're hoping to be moving into our new home in a couple of months. Instead of taking my RM with me to the new house, I'll be leaving the RM behind and getting the competitor's product at my new home.

Hi, I am using Rainmachine over 1 year. I am very satisfied. I dont know why homekit integrationis so crutial for you.I dont want to say siri start watering. I want watering to work without me taking care of it and thinking about adjusting based on actual weather. And that is exactly why I am satisfied with Rain machine. Also ability to use private Netatmo weather station data from my home(Rain,WInd and temperature) is great.
