Extreme Heat Override Setting
I have noticed on extremely hot days (over 90) if I do not manually water the grass in the afternoon, it will burn. Especially if that zone (grass) was not watered that morning. I have a new feature request.
Program a setting in the unit for automatic watering in the afternoon when temperatures reach a certain MAX temperature. This is similar to the FREEZE setting in the unit. I have my unit set to stop watering when the temperatures fall below 60 degrees.
So the new feature would have the ability to turn on the selected zones at a specific time of day, for a specific period of time ONLY when a certain temperature is reached or exceeded (90) . This would eliminate the need to remember to manually water, or manually stop water (Landscapers make your lawn mud if its wet when cut) and allow for a more robust Hands-Off system.
Im sure this would help a bunch of people. Please let me know your thoughts....

Hi, Nat
Thank you for your suggestion.
If you're using remote access functionality for your RainMachine, then you can use the ifttt.com applets to achieve just that.
Follow the instruction from this article and set up your first ifttt applet using a weather service and the RainMachine service on ifttt.comHope this helps, Nat
Thank you,

Im in agreement with you here. I tried the IFTTT option as suggested by RM Support. The idea looks pretty simple, but the applet is not working. I left it alone hoping more people would help make the case. It would really be better to have the unit manage the setting rather than rely on 3rd party applications.

Actually, so I just spotted this: Under weather services, choose developer. Look at "Weather Rules"
This appears, I think to be just what we are looking for here, you set a rule set based on data from Weather Underground.
The example in the rule set, logs a temperature, but I'm assuming, maybe it could trigger a program also? -
Hi Everyone I successfully set this up with the IFTTT.com applet. I am a novice at this type of stuff but pretty persistent. I think the applet is public. All you have to do is log in and click on rainmachine then select extra watering on hot days Mine is working fine now over 90 degrees the system waters in the mid afternoon without me monitoring it. My grass dont burn anymore!
ALSO
Jay listed in the thread going into settings under weather selecting developer..... This is too hard for me because the system is looking for a python file. I cant code in python but again I was successful with the APPlet.
reply if anyone needs further assistance - Im happy to help
